Okay, so I was talking with one of the awesome producers here on the site (there is a LOT of awesomeness in this network, as small as we are now... seriously, we have a couple of Emmy award winners, Academy nominated people, funders, distributors, actors that been on prime time shows and New York theater, amazing editors and animation people, Special FX makeup artists... ) and he said that he had a goal of producing at LEAST THREE films a year.

And because the purpose of this site is to foster creativity and community... I dare you to post your goals for this upcoming year. Here on this forum, or on your own page...

I know that one of the keys to success in any industry is to have some kind of action plan...

and we can help each other along in our journeys.

It's gonna take me a while to figure out what my goals are, but once I figure it out... I'm gonna post!

My goal, at least insofar as film making is concerned, is just to know more by the end of the year than I did at the start. Fortunately, considering my starting point, that is rather less than a herculean effort.

Here's my goals that I think I can realistically accomplish in the next 6 months (I may be cutting it close, but oh well):

Produce Jeff's short film "En Passant"
Produce Nicki's short film "Happily Neurotic"
Write my own screenplay for kicks...and to learn how...
Produce and film claymation short "Man vs. Woman"
Produce and film experimental short "Amnesia"
Figure out how to add "The Guilt Tripper" to IMDB.

I have acting goals as well, but I am trying to post goals that I have the power to accomplish myself instead of getting permission from someone else to do so, if you know what I mean. Acting for someone else's project usually means that you have to wait for their yes or no, and you don't really have control over that.

What I DO have control over are classes that I take and the number of projects I'll submit to...etc.

So I guess my acting goals would include:

Take a sitcom class.
Take an improv class.
Send out another mailing in November.
*maybe* take a class in stand up. Scary.
Re-do demo and add clips from Bones.
Compile comedic clips.

Okay! It's out there in the universe! So hold me accountable!

And if you guys know how to work the IMDB thingy lemme know...

For starters my goal is to get the Scarlet camera when it comes out. Then I plan to shoot as many different things as I can. I want to do more music videos this year, work on a sketch comedy series to be posted on youtube, and maybe work on a narrative short that I've had in mind for 2 years

Have you checked out the RED site lately, apparently the Scarlet and Epic are a changing...

..looks like the still camera wars (with new 1080p video capability) are shaking things up, with footage from the new Canon D5 raising a bunch of questions.

Personally after the RED, I would love a Scarlet.

Take Acting classes
Keep up my hip-hop classes at Millennium
Land at least one project, film or commercial
Finish writing my screen play entitled Psych-Ward
Keep my sanity! LOL!

My Goals For The Next Year

Finish up post on my thesis, 'The Long Way Out'
Start and finish post for 'Don't Jump'
Rework the screenplay for my feature, "The Reeducation of Gregory Mixx"
Write the feature version of my thesis, "The Long Way Out'
Figure out if I'm going to make one of my ideas into a short or a feature
Find investors who are as passionate about my scripts as I am
Enter my shorts, "Last Days In Iraq", "The Long Way Out" and "Don't Jump" into as many festivals as I can afford
Find myself a mentor
Make a living as a filmmaker

Sounds doable... right?

Right after the Canon was announced, about two weeks ago. Right now there is no "official" Scarlet release date, it is currently under revision - matter of fact, I am now questioning my RED purchase, as my number just came up last week.

Not sure what is going to happen, as I learn more, I'll be sure to post.
