HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

LILA AND CHRISTOPHER WON THE SHORT FILM COMPETITION!

I sent em $300 bucks with the challenge to "Pay IT Forward" with the extra cash and maybe start their own competition, or donate it to another artist project/film :-)

Here's a Cliff's Notes version of the rules :-) :

1. HERE ARE THE ELEMENTS (these have to be included in the film):

a) has to have some kind of romance in it (jilted romance, thriller romance, romance gone awry and gets some kind of gory hacksaw scene, cowboy romance that can't quit... you get my drift...) cause it's VALENTINE's DAY people!!!

b) The line of dialogue that needs to be in it somewhere: "Gotta learn to love ourselves before it's made illegal."

c) The prop that needs to be in it somewhere: A Marble.

2. Have your cast and crew on filmfriendfinder.ning.com and periodically update us with your filmmaking adventures.
3. Keep it under 10 minutes.
3. Post it here on Valentines Day!!!

PRIZES SO FAR INCLUDE:
$237 US Dollars
100 GRAND (candy bar, that is)
A Film Friend Finder Trophy
DVDS!!!! Titles include:
Sin Cities, Shogun Assasin, and Manga Oh MY GODDESS!!! (Many, many thanks to Sinohui, Cinevolve Studios, & Emerging Artist Productions!)

and perhaps other stuff as we go along that I will add like books or other stuff ... (ahem...people can feel free to donate :-) )

Do what you love!

Let's get the ball rolling on pay-it-forward filmmaking and get our community/creativity juices flowing!!! Any questions, hit me up...

First Semester Down

So the fall of 2009 semester, I took 3 classes toward my Master's in Motion Pictures via online courses through Academy of Art University. It was quite a bit of work. That is, if you consider studying film work. I will admit, I did miss a few questions on quizes/tests, but my grades were still fairly exemplary. Yeah, just fairly... Anyway, now that the semester is over, I am moving to San Francisco to begin classes in the classroom.

I'll continue the updates.

Red Roses and Petrol - feature film starring Malcolm McDowell, with tunes from Susanna Hoffs and Flogging Molly!

Amid a haze of cigarette smoke and uneaten food, the family of Enda Doyle (Malcolm McDowell) gathers in Dublin for his wake. A university librarian, poet, and complicated man, he has left behind a trail of unresolved issues, a dysfunctional family, and a disturbing mystery. “Red Roses and Petrol”, a darkly comic feature film from director Tamar Simon Hoffs, explores the emotional twists and turns of familial relationships.

“Red Roses and Petrol” won first prize at the Avignon Film Festival, was… Continue

Making music is a labour of love, making money is a by-product.

In a perfect world we would give all our music away for free and survive on touring revenue, merchandising and licensing income. Alas this is not always possible. In order to eat we have to sell a few CD’s. The good news is that much of our catalog has been released under this creative commons license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0 We have made many Antiqcool songs free to download for a reason, we want you to sprea… Continue
